Dubai Internet City
UI/UX for TECOM Group
Problem
TECOM Group, which operates multiple innovation hubs such as Dubai Internet City (DIC), sought to consolidate its digital presence into a single, unified website. The existing approach, where each business district maintained separate websites, led to fragmented navigation, inconsistent branding, and a subpar user experience. Users often faced difficulty finding relevant information, and the lack of mobile-friendly designs further exacerbated the problem. TECOM aimed to create a seamless, modern web platform that would integrate all its districts while preserving each's unique identity.
Solution
The new website, inspired by the design and functionality of DIC’s revamped platform, focused on a cohesive and user-friendly experience. A standardized visual language was implemented, featuring a clean sans-serif typeface and TECOM’s signature brand colors to reinforce its identity. The layout was designed with a grid-based structure for desktop, ensuring a professional and spacious feel. At the same time, the mobile version adopted a stacked card layout with intuitive, touch-friendly controls. This ensured users across all devices enjoyed a consistent and accessible browsing experience. Navigation was a key area of improvement. The team introduced a mega menu that displayed all business districts under TECOM, such as Dubai Media City and Dubai Knowledge Park, in an organized and intuitive manner. Each district had dedicated sub-sections, clearly labeled to simplify the user journey. Breadcrumb navigation, sticky headers, and cross-page links were integrated to ensure that users could easily move between related pages, such as "Business Setup," "Available Office Spaces," and "Community Benefits." A universal search bar and strategically placed CTAs, like "Get Started," further enhanced navigation and encouraged user engagement. Information was categorized into visually appealing item cards with concise text, prominent CTAs, and supporting icons or images. This made it easier for users to scan through content and access detailed information with minimal effort. Interlinking pages created a seamless browsing flow, allowing visitors to explore multiple services without feeling lost or overwhelmed. Mobile-first development ensured that the design was highly responsive, meeting the needs of an increasingly mobile user base. The new platform delivered measurable results. User engagement improved significantly, with a 40% increase in time spent on the site and a 25% reduction in bounce rate within the first quarter of the launch. The unified design strengthened TECOM Group’s brand identity, positioning it as a leader in fostering innovation hubs across Dubai. Users praised the website for its intuitive navigation, attractive design, and accessibility on both desktop and mobile devices. This project successfully demonstrated how a thoughtful, user-centered design approach could address complex challenges and deliver a seamless digital experience.
